Police: Woman Kidnapped and Possibly Assaulted Leaving Miami Nightclub
MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami Police are asking for the public's help to track down two men who kidnapped and possibly sexually assaulted a woman as she left a downtown nightclub early one morning.
According to the police report, a woman left club Therapy just after 4 a.m. on Monday, March 18th.
She was walking to her car near NE 11 Street and Miami Avenue when two men approached her, investigators said.
One man forced her into the back seat of her car as the other got into the driver's seat and drove away.
The police report says the victim recognized she was on Interstate 95, but then the driver pulled off the highway and the other man took her out of the car and held her in a chokehold.
"She's fighting and then at that moment she loses consciousness and she wakes up somewhere in the area of North Miami," Sgt. Freddie Cruz said. "Her car is ransacked."
She ended up along Northeast 183 Street and 14 Avenue, the report said.
Her iPhone as well as other items were stolen, according to police.
The woman told police her underwear had been ripped off, but because she had passed out, she wasn't sure if she had been sexually violated.
"We do know we have a victim of a kidnapping, a possible sexual assault," Sgt. Cruz told CBS 4's Lauren Pastrana. "And we have two animals on the loose right now we need them caught."
Police are looking for two men in their late teens or early twenties. Detectives said one man has braids. No sketches had been made available as of Thursday night.
News of the attack was a wake-up call for women in the area.
"This is a really sketchy neighborhood and I probably wouldn't be caught here late at night," Genevieve Lacroix said.
Lacroix said her car was recently stolen from the neighborhood. On Thursday night, she was surrounded by friends for safety.
One of the men in her group said, "Everywhere you go you have to look behind your shoulder."
Anyone with information about the kidnapping is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
A $1,000 reward is available for information that leads to an arrest.
