Police Union Holding Party To Leave GOP
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Critics of the Republican Party have said that in 2011, the GOP has made unions a target in any budget debate. But, the Broward County Police Benevolent Association has decided to fight the GOP by having a "Party to Leave the Party" event.
The PBA said the purpose of the event is to "encourage voter registration and urge registered Republicans to leave their party in light of the recent attacks on public workers by the GOP-led legislature."
At issue for the PGA is the Republican Party's targeting contribution increases for the Florida Retirement System and "a union-busting measure prohibiting labor unions from deducting dues from members' paychecks."
The "Party to Leave the Party" event is set for Saturday from 11am to 3pm at the Broward County PBA Hall.
