HIALEAH - A Hialeah man suspected of fatally stabbing a relative and injuring two others was shot and killed by police early Wednesday morning.

According to police, officers were sent to a home at W 42nd Place and W 5th Court just before 4:30 a.m. to check on a report of domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they were met by a woman, who had been stabbed, outside of the home. Inside the home, they found two others with stab wounds and an armed man.

"As officers were rendering aid to the victims, there was a confrontation between officers and the armed suspect, where officers were forced to discharge their weapons," said Hialeah police Lieutenant Eddie Rodriguez in a statement.

Video shows officers shooting at someone inside the house, and at least a dozen shots can be heard. The man was killed.

One of those stabbed also died. The other two injured were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center.

A neighbor said she heard the man, who was in his 20s and dealing with mental health issues, had stabbed his mother, sister and grandmother. Police have not confirmed this.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the officer-involved shooting, as per the Hialeah police department's protocol.
