HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – A 30-year-old man was found dead inside a Hialeah home after a nearly two-hour standoff with police Wednesday.
Chopper4 was over the scene as it started to unfold shortly after 5 p.m. outside a house at 125 West 56th St.
Several people were seen face down on the front yard as Hialeah police officers aimed their weapons at them.
One by one, police ushered each person off the grass and detained them. Officers also escorted a pregnant woman off the lawn.
The heavily armed police had been called to the area after reports of a dispute and shots fired.
Authorities said the lone man left in the home, who was identified as 30-year-old Lazaro Morejon, would not respond to their calls for surrender.
Slowly over the next two hours forces built – fire rescue, additional patrol officers, detectives and the SWAT team made their way to the neighborhood.
Officers worked from behind trucks and cars positioned in front of the home and made use of protective shields as they brought in police negotiators.
Hialeah police used a large combat-style vehicle like a tank to advance on the home.
Officers eventually made it to the porch – and after careful preparation, they went in.
Authorities were tight lipped about what they found – only saying officially that "a deceased male was found inside."
