Stolen Jewels On Display After 2 Suspects Arrested

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — A couple of highly sought after jewel thieves have been arrested which now has Miami-Dade police looking for the rightful owners of all the stolen goods.

According to Miami-Dade police, the two suspects were arrested by Miami Beach police on Sept. 20th. Miami Beach police have identified the suspects as Idalberto Arias and Enrique Rodriguez.

The two men were in a high-end vehicle and are believed to be part of jewelry theft ring which has hit homes from West Palm Beach to Collier County.

"In the Miami Beach incident, they were driving a Porsche Cayenne," said Tracy Mourer with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. "I believe one of the incidents we are also looking at right now was a BMW as well."

Miami Beach police said the men in the Porsche SUV were also with two women and two young children who stayed in the car while Arias and Rodriguez broke into homes in high-end communities like Sunset Islands, the Venetian Island and Star Island.

Police affidavits show that Arias, 40, and Rodriguez, 37, have been charged with burglary and criminal mischief in connection to a break-in on Palm Island. Denisse Diaz, 27, and Cindy Reyes, 23, have been charged with burglary and contributing to the delinquency of minors. Diaz and Reyes are the mothers of the children used in the scam, according to police.

Miami Beach police, along with Miami-Dade police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, have been watching Arias and Rodriguez as part of a larger investigation of a crime ring that spans the entire state of Florida.

With the arrests, Miami-Dade police are now trying to match up the stolen goods with their rightful owners.

"Our goal today is to show the property that was recovered and hopefully identify multiple victims who had their homes actually broken into," explained Miami-Dade Detective Josh Klurman.

The property on display Friday included jewelry, watches, cufflinks, computers, baseball cards and even fishing equipment.

If you've been the victim of a residential burglary and think some of the stolen property is yours, you can go the Miami-Dade Police Department Kendall station with your police report to set up appointment to view the property. You can also call the Kendall station at (305) 279-2629 or the Midwest station at (305) 471-2800.
