Police Seek Anwers After Body Of Missing Woman Found In Coral Springs

CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) – The Coral Springs Police Department is asking for the public's help in figuring out what happened to a missing woman whose body was discovered in a wooded area near a high school.
According to Coral Springs Police, a man walking down the street discovered the woman's body off the 7200 block of Sample Road just east of Coral Springs High School sometime around 6:00 p.m. Thursday.
"Based on the way her that her body was discovered, it appears that it was placed at that location and it doesn't appear to be where she was deceased. She happened to have been put there by somebody. That's why we're looking for information, if anyone saw anything in the area," said Carla Kmiotek with Coral Springs Police.
Police say there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body, but are calling the incident "suspicious in nature."
Investigators have identified her as 38-year-old Magdalena Weich.
Police say her live-in boyfriend, Enrique Macotela, reported her missing on Wednesday.
He told police that she had gone to Barnes & Noble on foot the previous night and she never returned home. He told them he became even more concerned when her boss said she did not show up for work.
According to police, Macotela told them that on Tuesday Weich "stayed home from work due to an intense headache."
When Macotela came from work, he says he left to play tennis and got a text message from Weich telling him she was going to a Barnes & Noble about a mile away off the 2700 block of University Drive, and that she'd be home between 10:00 to 10:30 p.m.
"She never returned home and he advised that he contacted her work the next day and she never showed up for work. This is when he notified the Coral Springs Police Department," said Sgt. Kmiotek.
Detectives reviewed footage from Barnes & Noble and found no trace of Weich and they also contacted Weich's job.
According to the police report, Weich's boss said she received a call from Weich's boyfriend Tuesday telling her Weich "would not be making it in to work." This was something "she found unusual because Magdalena has never called out of work."
Weich's boyfriend did speak with detectives several times, but CBS4 was told that he has since requested a lawyer.
The couple, who have been together for about nine years, have a 4-year-old son.
That child is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
