North Miami Subway Clerk Speaks About Gunpoint Robbery

NORTH MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The victim of a man who may be a serial armed robber of convenience stores is speaking out, saying he thought he might lose his life when the criminal walked into his Subway restaurant.
"I feel very bad, very bad as to why he would do that," said clerk Muhammad Rahman.
The 23-year-old clerk told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "I was thinking maybe he would shoot me. That's why I gave him the money. He said give me the money and I will do nothing to you guys. I will not hurt you."

Rahman and a fellow clerk were robbed around 10 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th at a Subway restaurant at 965 N.E. 125th St. Police said the gunman fled in an unknown direction with a bag containing $300 in cash.
North Miami police said the same man robbed a clerk at a 7-Eleven store less than four blocks away on the corner of N.E. 125th Street and N.E. 6th Ave. Police said the robber took $250 from that store on October 13th.
Rahman vividly remembered what the gunman did.
"He came in to the store and on the way he in he pulled out a gun and said give me the cash and he said I will not do anything. So I just followed what he said and I gave him the money and he left," he said.
"Were you scared when he came in?" asked D'Oench.
"Yeah," he said. "I was a little bit scared. That's why I did what I did."
Police said the same stocky man wearing a lime-green cap may have also robbed at least two other convenience stores in Miami-Dade, including another 7-Eleven store on October 6th at 533 N.W. 103rd St.
A Miami-Dade Police description of the gunman said he was between 30 to 40-years old, 5'3" to 5'6" tall, around 220 pounds, has a noticeable lazy eye and may limp. They also said he used black, semi-automatic firearm.
"He was definitely stocky," said Rahman. "And I think he was about 5-foot-6."
"Our concern is number one that he is armed and he doesn't seem to care that he's robbing not just one but two employees at the same time," said North Miami Police Major Neal Cuevas. "At any given moment, those people can summon police for help, but he doesn't seem to care. He has some very distinguishable clothing. He wears a green hat and he wears some other apparel that if anybody knows this person they should be able to recognize him."
Rahman said he had worked at the store for the past two years and had never been robbed before. He also said he had never seen the gunman before. He hopes he will be caught.
"If you see this guy, report this to police," he said. "It would mean a lot to me if he was caught."
