Police Search For Armed Robbers After Home Invasion, Kidnapping
MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4)- Police are looking for suspects after a grandmother and her 19-year-old granddaughter said they were victims of an armed home invasion and kidnapping in Miami Gardens.
According to the grandmother, two men broke into her home early Saturday morning on the 4400 block of NW 302 Street in Miami Gardens. Once they were inside the men terrorized her and kidnapped her granddaughter, the women said.
"The person was coming toward me with a gun," the grandmother said.
The grandmother said she was tied up with tape and the men also placed tape on her granddaughter's eyes before kidnapping her.
The granddaughter told CBS4 News that the men told her they were going to kill her if they couldn't get money.
The women said they left the home alarm off because the granddaughter was waiting for her boyfriend. But that's when the men sneaked in from the back door.
The grandmother said one of the men had her granddaughter in a headlock and pointed a gun at her head.
"I started screaming"' she said. "He said, 'Look if you don't stop this screaming I'm going to shoot her."
The grandmother said she pleaded with the men.
"I said, 'Please don't shoot my granddaughter. That's the only granddaughter I have' and he said, 'Well that's life.'"
The men took credit cards, according to the grandmother.
"He said, 'We're taking your granddaughter with us and if this credit card does not work we're coming back and we're going to kill you and your granddaughter.'"
The men took the granddaughter in their car and drive off, the women said.
"When I was in the car they were elbowing me, slapping me, kicking me and telling me that they were going to kill me," the granddaughter said.
Miami Gardens police stepped in after the grandmother went to a neighbors house and called police.
Police were actively searching for the 19-year-old but several false alarms later the girl called 911 and said she was pushed out of the car.
Police are looking for the men and the car they were driving, a red Nissan SUV.
