Police: Teen Killed In North Miami Beach Shooting

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – A 17-year-old youngster who was described as a "student who was a good kid" was gunned down near a bus bench not far from a busy Walmart Store.
The shooting happened at 12:35 near the corner of N.E. 164 St. and N.E. 15th Ave. as hundreds of people were shopping at that busy store.

Shoppers and neighbors watched in horror as the body of the 17-year-old that was covered by a yellow plastic tarpaulin lay on the ground next to the bus stop.
Chopper 4 also captured the transport of a woman who was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the ankle area.
At dismissal at a nearby high school, students said they know the victim and are grieving for his family.
"His mom think that he in school right now getting out of school and this happened to him," said Jonathan Joseph. " Just lost another student, another friend."
Students said the young man was well liked.
"He was always a cool kid, chilling in class and the next day he's dead," said another student, RG.

Just seven blocks to the east, at N.E. 8thAve. and N.W. 163rd St., Miami-Dade Police pulled over a Miami minibus known as a "jitney" that may have been carrying the three young suspects.
Miami-Dade Police Detective and spokesman Dan Ferrin said, "Based on information that we have a jitney bus was pulled over with several individuals who have been detained."Ferrin said so far they had not been charged.
Christopher Fennell said he witnesses the three people being detained and said he was horrified by the shooting.
"There is no justice," he said. "It was senseless."
CBS4's Peter D'Oench also spoke with two men who witnessed the shooting.
Dave Mitchell said "I have seen this young kid all the time. He came from school and he was usually sitting there normally at the bus stop. Next thing I know he was shot and then laying there dead .He walked past me to the bus stop and the next thing you know he was shot. It makes no sense. It hurts."
Another witness, William McCoy, told D'Oench that three people were involved in the shooting but he was not able to give a detailed description of them.
"It seems like he was shot point blank," he said. "One of the guys just went up to him and shot him. The shots are what got my attention. This was shocking to look at him."
Miami-Dade Police say it's not clear what prompted this shooting.
Neighbors who came to the scene said they deeply upset.
Dorothy Haynes said, "I immediately thought that we hear this too much. I feel so bad for the parents of this young person. This needs to stop."
Carmen and Anthony Gonzalez said this shooting made them think of their 19-year-old son Ismael Patterson who was shot and killed seven months ago.
"I am a mother who lost a child 7 months ago," said Carmen Gonzalez. "And this is just too much, this loss of young lives."
"My son died 7 months ago," said Anthony Gonzalez. "And every day this is happening. Kids are killing other kids."
