MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police want you to take a good look at the surveillance video they released of man caught burglarizing a Miami home in broad daylight on Tuesday.
Homeowner Marc Kunen's wife had just left the house with their 3-month-old baby when the alarm company called Kunen 10 minutes later.
The man captured in the surveillance video was in the couple's home near Miami's Roads area on SW 23 Street. The burglar had broken in through a first-floor window.
In the video, the burglar is seen nonchalantly walking around the house – gloves on but face exposed.
He goes upstairs to the bedroom then is seen coming back to the living room with several bags, filling them with the couple's stuff, including their laptop.
"It just made me angry that we work hard and we have a 3-month-old baby and we do a lot to provide for her and in a second someone comes into my house and starts taking whatever he wants," Kunen told CBS4 Reporter Donna Rapado. "It's frustrating."
When Kunen rushed home from his job in the nearby Brickell area to meet with police, he said he couldn't find his dog for a while.
In the surveillance video, the mini greyhound is seen peeking around the corner by the stairs as the burglar moves around the house.
It turned out she hid under the bed, scared.
The couple moved in the two-story house about a year ago and Kunen said they were finally starting to really feel at home. But this violation of their safe space has set that back. His wife doesn't even want to stay there at night just yet.
"Since this happened, my wife and I have been going through and just cleaning everything and trying to make the house feel normal again," Kunen explained.
If you have any information that can help, you are urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
