Police: Missing Miami Teen Returns Home
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A 16-year old girl who was reported missing and believed to be with her former teacher was reunited with her family Friday.
Miami Police said Karina Cisneros returned home after she went missing Monday, April 28th, according to her parents.
Her family was especially concerned because Cisneros left home with her passport, her social security card and her driver's license but didn't take much else.
Cisneros' parents told CBS4's Marybel Rodriguez, that their daughter was having a secret relationship with 49-year old Javier Peraza two months ago but she had known him for several years.
Cisneros' parents as well as police believed she was with Peraza.
"My daughter met him when she was in eighth grade...when she was 12 to 13-years old. He was her history teacher," said her mother Zoila Matienzo .
Her parents say the two had been having a secret relationship.
" I know that she is with him and she's okay now but I don't know if in the future because this man is not normal. He's crazy. I don't know what's going to happen in the future with my daughter. Maybe he's going to persuade her to do many bad things," said Matienzo on April 30th.
Cisneros' parents told CBS4 once they discovered the relationship and found several hundred text messages on her phone between them, they pulled her out of school and started home schooling her.
Peraza is no longer a teacher but he was also her personal trainer.
Cisneros' parents said they tried contacting him to no avail. They went to his apartment, but neighbors told them he had moved months ago.
Police said they will continue investigating the case.
