Police: Man Kills Elderly Mother For "Forcing Him To Get A Job"

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police arrested a man who they said stabbed and killed his own mother because she was trying to force him to get a job.

According to Miami-Dade Police, Francis Roig walked into his mother's bedroom at 2:00 a.m. Monday and stabbed her several times in the chest.

After reportedly stabbing his mother, 79-year-old Georgina Roig, with an unknown object, Roig fled the scene.

A B.O.L.O. was issued for Roig and he was later spotted at SW 24th St. and 79 Ave. An officer tried to stop him, but he kept driving.

He continued to the area of SW 27th Ave. and 25 Ter., where he exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. Police were then able to apprehend him.

Roig is charged with second-degree murder, assaulting an officer resisting arrest and fleeing an officer.

Officer said he admitted to the stabbing because he was angry with his mother for pushing him to get a job.
