Police: Would-Be Store Robber Shot Dead By Armed Employee
MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4) - Miami Gardens police remain on the scene of a shooting at a home health care business on the second floor of an office building on U.S. 441
Police tell us a man with a gun arrived at the business Friday evening in an apparent robbery attempt.
"A male came into a business, presented a firearm, made threats a shot was fired by that individual and someone within the business shot and killed the assailant," said Capt. Alfred Lewers, Jr.
A woman who was in the hair salon next door to where the shooting happened said she thought the loud noises were construction equipment.
"I heard some gunshots -- probably like 6 or 7 gunshots," Courtney Carpenter told CBS 4's Carey Codd. "I was pretty frightened because I didn't know what was going on and I didn't know if they were gonna next door and do the same thing to us."
Carpenter said there were 10 people and several children inside the hair salon.
Detectives are speaking with the employee who fired the fatal shots. Police tell us it's unclear if that person will face any charges.
Investigators have not released the name of the man who was shot and killed.
