1 Dead In Police-Involved Shooting In West Kendall
WEST KENDALL (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade Police have started an investigation into what led to the death of one person during a police-involved shooting.
M-D Police said they stopped the car because they said the two people inside were robbery suspects and officers with the robbery intervention detail were attempting to arrest the two people.
"A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle as officers approached the suspects one of th individuals failed to comply with the officer's orders that individual was subsequently fired upon by the police and expired here on the scene; the second subject that was here in the vehicle complied and was taken into police custody," said Lt. Rosanna Cordero-Stutz.
The scene, at SW 120th Street just west of 137th Avenue next to Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, blocked traffic in the area.
Police were still searching the car and right now, they aren't saying whether the suspects were armed or what exactly led to the shooting.
Police told CBS4's Maggie Newland the officer who fired the shot has been with Miami-Dade Police for six years and has worked with the Robbery Intervention Detail for three years.
