MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade police have arrested one person in connection to a violent home invasion in the southern part of the county.

Police arrested 24-year old Yurian Martinez Medina in connection to the crime.

While one arrest has been made, the search for the other three men still at large.

The family of three who lives in the rental home at 25054 Krome Avenue has only been there for a few weeks. They said around 5 a.m. four men with guns shot out the windows and broke down the front door.

Hilda Machado said once inside they threw the family to the ground and fired wildly into the walls. Her husband dialed 911 as soon as he heard the initial gunfire.

"I am so grateful to the police," said Ricardo Machado, "When the gunman heard the sirens, they ran away. We could have been killed."

Police stopped a car speeding away from the home and took one man into custody, three others took off running.

Machado said the armed men didn't have much time inside the house and didn't say much except to shout at them to get down on the ground. Police believe it was a case of mistaken identity and the home invaders had been targeting the home's previous residents.

The family said they are leaving the house out of fear the home  invaders may come back to eliminate witnesses.
