Police Investigating Shooting In Fort Lauderdale
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Fort Lauderdale Police are trying to get to the bottom of what led to a shooting at around 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Auburn Avenue.
According to Ft. Lauderdale Police, two men were arguing before the situation escalated into a shooting. As the suspect, Jamichael Warner, 23, ran from the scene of the shooting, he fired shots into the air.
Police established a perimeter and called in the SWAT team as negotiators talked with Warner in his residence.
Police said Warner would walk in and out of the house and several times made movements towards his waistband, followed by gestures with his hands in the form of a gun and point in the direction of the officers.
SWAT members fired a "Sage riot gun" and hit the suspect several times, after which he was arrested.
Warner was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, one count of probation violation, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one count of display of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The victim was later identified as Antonio Brinson, 33, of Lauderhill.
