Police: Mom Shot Child, Turned Gun On Herself
SARASOTA (CBSMiami/AP) — Police in Sarasota said a mother shot her child and then turned the gun on herself.
The child was just 10-months-old.
Police said they responded to the murder-suicide Sunday morning.
Spokeswoman Genevieve Judge says the unidentified mother was 35 years old.
The mother died at the scene.
The girl was taken to the hospital and later died.
A police statement says the child's father returned home from a scooter ride before 10 a.m. and heard shots fired and called 911.
No one else was inside the home when it happened.
Police said a report won't be available until Tuesday.
