HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police are investigating a triple shooting in Homestead where two people died and another was airlifted to the hospital.
Police descended on a nice, gated neighborhood off of Mediterranean Avenue and Pacific Boulevard at around 9 p.m. Thursday.
Relatives of the possible victims waited frantically for news of what's going down the road of the clubhouse.
"This place is really safe. Nothing ever really happens here," said Steven Suarez who lives nearby.
But investigators, who are just starting to look into what happened at the clubhouse, said three people were shot and two of them are dead.
"At the preliminary investigations is what's letting us know is the fact that perhaps that there was an argument, or some type of dispute, where a 41-year-old male produced a firearm, shot the female that was inside the clubhouse, shot the second victim that was transported," explained Det. Alvaro Zabaleta. "And then, from what it appears, shot himself."
Police said the shooting appeared to stem from some kind of domestic dispute.
The uncle of the man airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center told CBS4's Donna Rapado his nephew, who he identified as 27-year-old Hellman Silva, was shot in the face and arm.
He added Silva is in surgery and is intubated in very bad shape.
If you have any information on this shooting, you are urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
