Gunman Sought In Crime That Left 1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Miami
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami police are trying to piece together an early morning double shooting that left one man dead and another hospitalized.
The shooting took place around 4:25 a.m. at Northwest 24th Avenue and 37th Street.
According to police, two unidentified men were shot inside a vehicle after they left a nightclub in the neighborhood.
They were driving along NW 24th Avenue prior to the shooting, said police. Once they reached the corner, several shots were fired into their car.
The driver was shot in the leg and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. The passenger was shot in the chest and died at the hospital several hours later.
The surviving victim told police he did not know why they were shot.
It happened right next to Harrison Crane Services whose manager said he believes somebody must have witnessed the crime.
"Seeing these guys hurt as badly as they are, with the commotion that happens down there, it's a constant basis and it's just beyond belief," said David Harrison. "Somebody had to have seen this. Come forward and say what they saw or at least someone from the club come forward and say they saw these people and hopefully catch these guys. There's too much crime in this area."
It's not known if this shooting was tied to a recent rash of gang related shootings in Miami.
Sources did tell CBS4's Peter D'Oench that the shooting stems from a dispute that took place before the men were inside the nightclub.
