Police Investigate Death Of Woman Who Received Butt Enhancement

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade Police are trying to determine the identity of a man who passed himself off as a doctor from Venezuela who is accused of administering butt-enhancement injections to a Miami woman who died shortly after the procedure in April.

Twenty-eight year old Suyima Torres, according to her family, had just started her own business.

When CBS4's Brian Andrews asked Torres's father, Juan Luis Torres, if he was upset with the clinic he said yes.

Police questioned Ruth Planas, the owner of Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics LLC which is located in a strip mall on 8410 West Flagler Street.

According to court documents obtained by CBS4 News, Planas refused to provide any information on the Venezuelan Doctor, who is believed to have left the country.

When CBS4's Brian Andrews visited Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics on Tuesday afternoon, the doors were locked and the blinds were drawn. Also, there were delivery notices taped to the door frame.

The court documents note that police are treating the death of Suyi Torres as a case of manslaughter connected to the unlicensed practice of medicine.

In April, Police seized records, medications, and computers from Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics.

To date, no charges have been filed in the case.

Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics' owner Ruth Planas is not accused of any wrong doing by authorities.

Torres, as noted in the court documents, paid $2300 in cash for rear-enhancing injections. The second round of injections, which Police said were administered by the unknown man claiming to be a doctor, was administered on April 11th.

Almost 10-hours after the injections, according to the report, Torres was pronounced dead at Doctor's Hospital.

CBS4 could not reach Planas or anyone associated with Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics, LLC.

Two months after the death of his daughter, Juan Torres told Andrews he thinks about her every day.

The Detective handling the case did not return calls seeking comment.
