Police: Florida's Fugitive Siblings Corralled In Colorado

PUEBLO, CO (CBS4) – Florida's fugitive siblings have been captured in Colorado.

Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor confirmed to CNN that 21-year old Ryan Edward Dougherty, his 26-year old brother Dylan and their 29-year old sister Lee Grace were taken into custody after a high speed chase on I-25.

The trio, which was reportedly in Colorado Springs on Monday, was spotted Tuesday in stores in Cañon City.

After a short chase on the highway, the trio was taken into custody after they crashed their white Subaru Impreza near Walsenburg, in southern Colorado. Taylor said one of them tried to escape on foot but was quickly captured.

Wednesday's arrests capped a week long search for the so-called Dougherty Gang who are accused of crimes in Florida and Georgia. On Monday, the focus of the search shifted to Colorado after police and FBI officials said they believed the trio made a purchase at an outdoors store in Colorado Springs and could be headed to a campground or rural area to try to avoid capture.

The nationwide manhunt began August 2nd after police said they fired at least 20 shots at a Florida officer, who tried to pull them over for speeding, during in a chase which reached speeds of up to 100 mph.

Hours later, three people wearing masks robbed a bank in Valdosta, Ga., about 210 miles north. One robber brandished an AK-47 assault rifle while another was photographed by a security camera waving a machine pistol, the FBI said.
