Police: Father Arrested For Tying Up Son In Miami Beach Yard
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - A South Florida father is facing child abuse charges amid accusations he tied up his son in the yard of their home for hours as punishment for leaving the house.
Adolfo Guzman, 49, has been charged with one count of child abuse causing great bodily harm.
Police say the incident Sunday began when Guzman's 12 year old son left their Miami Beach home without permission. When the child returned home, Guzman allegedly used a bicycle cable wire lock to tie the boy to a concrete pole outside the home. Police allege Guzman then left the home for several hours with the boy tied up outside.
According to the arrest affidavit, passersby saw the boy in the yard and alerted nearby police, who called Miami Beach Fire Department to cut the cable. The boy reportedly complained to officers that he was in a lot of pain due to the way the cable was tied.
Guzman was arrested by officers when he returned home. According to the affidavit, Guzman waived his right to an attorney and admitted to tying the boy up.
He is out of jail after posting the $50,000 bond.
