Missing Davie Teen Found Safe
DAVIE (CBS4) – A Davie teen who vanished while mowing the grass on Sunday has been found safe and sound.
The family of fourteen year old Nick Barnes said he was found in Plantation after someone spotted his picture in the news.
Barnes lives with his aunt and uncle. They said Sunday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. he was mowing the yard in front of their home in the 15100 block of Bristol Lane when he disappeared.
"He cut the front of the grass and did not finish the back of the grass, so he was half way through," said family friend Jason Bossman with the Sawgrass Community Church. "He did leave the lawn mower and weed eater in the garage, and the garage was left open and he was no where to be found afterward."
Barnes' aunt and uncle told police he left his cell phone, wallet and keys behind. They didn't believe he'd run away or had gone to see his parents, so they called the police.
"He's a good student, he's got good grades, there's nothing out of the ordinary to make him runway or anything," said Bossman.
The police K9 was brought out and but it could only track Barnes' scent to the end of the driveway.
