Police, Families Teamed Up For 'Shop With A Cop'
MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4)- South Florida families teamed up with the Miami Gardens Police Department to shop with a cop Saturday.
The MGPD partnered with the Kiwanis Club of Miami Gardens for the 4th annual "Shop with a COP," which pairs local elementary age school children with Miami Gardens Police Officers and Kiwanis members to enjoy a holiday shopping experience.
One hundred twenty children from Miami Gardens Schools were teamed up with members to enjoy the holiday shopping experience at a local Walmart.
One father said he was thrilled his autistic son could participate.
"It gives them something to look forward to," he said. "It makes them want to do better, you know. It encourages them so I'm always thankful for things like this."
Each child received $75 to spend on gifts for family and friends.
