Police: Children Home As Man Stabs Wife To Death
MIAMI - (CBS4) - A woman who had recently separated from her husband relocated from Oklahoma back to South Florida in hopes of starting a new life.
But on Wednesday, police say, Yuleyvi Prieto's 28-year-old husband Yasell Sosataquechel found her and killed her. Her two young children from a previous relationship were in the home when it happened, police said.
The report states that Prieto had wanted to divorce Sosataquechel because she "no longer loved" him, according to the report.
The last time family members heard from her was by phone on Wednesday morning when she told one of them that "Yasell is with me," according to the police report.
Hours passed and family members could not get a hold of her, they arrived to her apartment at 1:15 p.m. on the 7400 block of SW 23rd Street and found a large amount of blood on the ground.
Police were called and they found Prieto's body on the bed with "apparent stab wounds to her chest and back."
Sosataquechel was found sitting in the dining room floor with lacerations to his wrists, police said. The two children, ages 2 and 3, were found sitting on the living room couch.
Sosataquechel was treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ward D, the wing reserved for injured prisoners.
He will face a bond court judge once he is released from the hospital. Sosataquechel is charged with second-degree murder.
