PALM BEACH (CBSMiami) - In the wee hours of the morning, deputies in Lantana busted two kids - 14 and 15-years-old – after a chase with two stolen vehicles.
They are not old enough to drive but the pair is suspected of getting behind the wheel, leading police on a two-county pursuit.
Investigators believe they ripped off two cars from the Hollywood Chrysler Jeep Dealership on State Road 7 in Palm Beach County.
"The suspects broke into the manager's office at the dealership, stole the keys, then just started leaving with the cars," said Miranda Grossman with the Hollywood Police Department.
There are lots of suspects as police believe at least five people were involved. That's also how many vehicles were stolen. It all happened quickly at about 1 a.m.
The security guard was having a hard time counting exactly how many cars were barreling through the closed front gate.
"A security guard working overnight reported that at least 3 to 5 cars had driven through one of the gates of this dealership. Our officers and K-9 responded and spotted three of the vehicles that matched the description," said Grossman.
The metal gate broke right off its post when the cars crashed through it.
From Hollywood, police and Broward Sheriff's deputies followed two of the five up I-95 to the Palm Beach line. That's where officers took to the skies to keep an eye on them and eventually nabbed them in a Costco parking lot in Lantana.
The question now is - are the people responsible petty thieves or more?
"At this point, we're just not sure exactly what it is, but it could be some sort of ring, organized crime and that's something we want to stop in its tracks," said Grossman.
