Police Bullets Killed Man In Pines Double Shooting

PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) - A police officer is responsible for the death of a Pembroke Pines man after that man shot and killed his girlfriend, according to ballistics tests.

According to police, the ballistics test show that police bullets killed 60-year-old Michael Savino, the night of November 17th. Savino was shot, police say, when an officer arrived at his Chapel Trail home at NW 1st Street and 189th Avenue regarding a couple fighting.

They had received a 911 call from 54-year-old Jackline Fromin, who can be heard on the call telling a dispatcher that Savino "wants to have me Baker Acted." The dispatcher asks if there are any weapons in the house, but Fromin said she didn't know.

When the officer arrived, they found Savino holding a gun. The officer fired five shots. Police then found Fromin dead inside the home. She had been shot by Savino, said police.

The officer was placed on paid administrative leave, which is routine in officer-involved shootings.
