Police: Attacks In Davie Parks May Be Related
DAVIE (CBS4) - Davie police are looking into a possible connection between a sexual assault last month in a park to another attack five months earlier in which the would be victim was able to fight off her attacker.
The most recent attack happened Nov. 26th at Robbins Lodge West End, at 4005 Hiatus Road. The woman said she was walking on the pedestrian path in the park around 9:30 a.m. when a man dressed in a forest green hooded jacket ran up to her, threatened her with what looked like a knife and then dragged her off the path to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her.
She told police her attacker was around 5'9" with a thin build and dark complexion. In addition to the jacket he was wearing a long-sleeved grey undershirt, light-colored jeans and sneakers. She said he spoke English with a slight Spanish accent.
The attack was very similar to one that happened June 7th at the Flamingo Road Gardens East End park at 37th and S. Flamingo Road.
The woman said she was in the east portion of the park just before 10 a.m. when a man came up behind and tried to put duct tape over her mouth. The woman said she fought back and the man ran off.
The woman told police that she didn't get a good look at this face but he was wearing a green long sleeve t-shirt, a green long pants, green rubber boots, green gloves and a green baseball cap.
In both incidents police said the man threatened the women with a knife/screwdriver type object.
