Police Arrest Sunrise Bank Robbery, Bomb Scare Suspect
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4)-The suspected bank robber who caused a bomb scare at the bank was set to appear in court Friday, after he was arrested in Fort Lauderdale Thursday afternoon.
According to the FBI, Terry Philip Pinson, 41, walked into the Northwest Savings Bank at 1609 East Sunrise Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon carrying a Winn-Dixie shopping bag.
A bank employee told police that Pinson handed over a note that said there was a bomb inside the bag. The employees then gave Pinson an undisclosed amount of money.
Pinson ran out of the bank, but left the bag behind. Police closed Sunrise Boulevard and evacuated the area, while they investigated the contents of the bag.
Police later found a green soda bottle inside.
Pinson is being held on Federal bank robbery charges.
