Planned Closures On Florida's Turnpike For Overhead Sign Installation

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – If you plan to drive on Florida's Turnpike between Sunrise Boulevard and I-595, you may want to take note of some expected road closures.

Beginning Tuesday September 24th, at 9 p.m., workers will be forced to close lanes as work to install an overhead sign begins.

The following closures are necessary to complete this phase of the project:

  • One lane of Florida's Turnpike, in both directions, between Sunrise Boulevard and I-595 will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and two lanes will be closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Sept. 24 and ending Friday, Sept. 27.
  • All lanes of northbound Florida's Turnpike between I-595 and Sunrise Boulevard will be closed early morning Thursday, Sept. 26 from 1:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. Motorists will be directed to exit at I-595 (exit 54), follow the signs on the exit ramp to northbound SR 7 / US 441, continue on northbound SR 7 / US 441 to Sunrise Boulevard, and continue west on Sunrise Boulevard to the Florida's Turnpike entrance ramp.
  • All lanes of southbound Florida's Turnpike between Sunrise Boulevard and I-595 will be closed early morning Friday, Sept. 27 from 1:30 a.m. to 4 a.m.  Motorists will be directed to exit at Sunrise Boulevard (exit 58), travel east on Sunrise Boulevard to SR 7 / US 441, continue southbound on SR 7 / US 441 to the southbound entrance ramp for Florida's Turnpike.

The work is part of the ongoing I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project.
