Dog Severely Burned In Domestic Dispute
HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - A year old pit bull named Moon is recovering after she was severely burned during a domestic dispute.
Moon was brought to the Hollywood Animal Hospital on Sunday, October 12th, with second degree burns on most of her body. Moon's owner Mariya Facca found the injured dog when she went to the home of her ex-boyfriend, 27-year old Alain Leclerc Williams. She immediately called the police.

Even with her injuries, she still managed to greet Facca with a faint moan and a wagging tail.
"Every time when we see her now, in her condition, she'll wag her tail and cry. I don't even know what to do," said Facca.
Dr. Amanda Pinder said Moon has received oxygen therapy and intensive care. The severe burns to 40 percent of her body have been cleaned and dressed; her current prognosis is good but guarded.
The loss of proteins seen in burn victims and the risk of kidney failure is still a threat, according to the animal hospital.
"Moon has a wonderful disposition for having endured such a tragedy. While, she has a long road of care ahead of her, baring complications, our prognosis for her is good," said Pinder.
While she recovers, the man allegedly responsible is behind bars.
Twenty-seven year old Williams was arrested and later appeared in bond court to face a number of charges which include battery on a police officer, criminal mischief, and tormenting, depriving, mutilating an animal. He is being held on $86,000 bond.
According to his arrest affidavit, Williams sent his ex-girlfriend a text message Sunday evening saying he'd poured "hot, boiling water" on the one-and-a-half-year-old pit bull the day before and that he did it to get back at her for breaking up with him.
Facca and her father called police to help them get "Moon" from William's home off Sheridan Street and North Federal Highway in Hollywood.
"When the cops came to get him out, cause he was barricaded, they took him out, arrested him, they told me to come inside and get the dog. You can't even breathe. You couldn't even breathe in there. You just smelled flesh," said Facca.
Moon's owner is grateful that her faithful friend is making progress.
"Now, she's doing really, really good and I'm really happy. She's moving, wagging, that's good," said Facca.
Vets still don't know when Moon will be able to go home. They said that she is expected to have scarring but as far as her emotional well-being they don't know how she's going to be able to fare after the tragic incident.
