Pilot Rescued After Plane Lands In Florida Marsh
JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) — A pilot was rescued after his single-engine plane went down in a marsh in Jacksonville.
The pilot was not injured.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department officials said Saturday the Piper PA-28 landed in the marsh a little after 10 a.m. A passer-by rescued the pilot.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the airplane had departed from Jacksonville Executive Airport when the pilot experienced engine trouble. The pilot's identity was not immediately available.
Manufactured in 1975, the aircraft is registered to Airneck Inc. of Jacksonville, FAA records showed. Company officials couldn't be reached for comment Saturday.
