Pilot Found Dead In Sarasota Plane Crash
SARASOTA (CBSMiami/AP) — The pilot of a seaplane was killed after it crashed Saturday near near the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.
Seventy year old John Ardoyno of Hayward, Wisconsin, died of his injuries. His passenger, 63-year-old William Jackson of Ann Arbor, Michigan, was severely burned.
Sarasota County Fire Department sokeswoman, Capt. Susan Pearson, said that the crash happened when Ardoyno tried to take off from the airport.
The seaplane had a hard time gaining enough altitude to stay in the air, said Pearson.
Witnesses near by told a Sarasota paper that they seen the plane dipping in the air and flying low.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
