Facing Headwinds, TS Philippe Expected To Weaken

MIAMI (CBS4) – Tropical Storm Philippe  is expected to weaken, thanks to Hurricane Ophelia.

At 11:00 p.m. Friday, Philippe was located 1255 miles east-southeast Bermuda. Maximum sustained winds were 50 mph with some higher gusts.

The system was moving to the northwest at 9 mph.  Forecasters expect the storm to stay on this track for most of Friday followed by a turn toward the west-northwest late Friday or Saturday.

The storm is also expected to become disorganized due to upper level headwinds from the outflow of Hurricane Ophelia.

There are currently no watches or warnings posted for this storm.
