Philippe Could Become Hurricane, No Threat To Land

MIAMI (CBS4) – Tropical Storm Philippe could become a hurricane before turning out to sea and remains no threat to land.

At 11 p.m. Wednesday, Philippe was located 465 miles south-southeast of Bermuda. Little change in strength has been reported by the National Hurricane Center.

Maximum sustained winds were holding at 65 mph with some higher gusts and Philippe is expected to strengthen and become a hurricane during the next two days. Tropical storm force winds extend 85 miles from Philippe's center.

The system was moving to the west-northwest at 7 mph.

The NHC said Philippe is expected to turn to the northeast by Thursday and Friday with an increase in forward speed.

There are currently no watches or warnings posted for this storm.
