Philbin Interested In Mike Sherman As Off. Coordinator
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin has precious little time to name his coaching staff after taking over the team Friday night.
Coach Philbin needs both an offensive and defensive coordinator and he could be looking to the coach who gave him his NFL start to take over the Fins' offense.
According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, Philbin is interested in hiring former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman to run his offense.
Sherman was last a coach at Texas A&M where he compiled a 25-25 record over four years.
But Sherman is remembered in the NFL for his time as the head coach of the Packers from 2000-2005, where he compiled a 57-39 record and hired Philbin into the NFL.
Sherman is also a candidate for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coaching job and will likely wait until the Bucs make a decision on their job before deciding his future.
Sherman will receive a second-interview with the Bucs in the coming days, according to the Herald.
Past Sherman, Philbin and the Fins have also shown interest in Green Bay Packers tight end coach Ben McAdoo.
There's been no movement on the defensive coordinator front for the Dolphins after Mike Nolan left the team to become the defensive coordinator in Atlanta.
