Philanthropic Birthday Celebration Held In Honor Of Kaely Camacho
PALMETTO BAY (CBS4) - The sister of a teenage girl killed in an alleged DUI crash honored her memory in a very special way.
Saturday would have been Kaely Camacho's 15th birthday. Her sister, Bree Ann, threw a party at a Palmetto Bay park which asked guests to bring toiletries that would then be donated to Camillus House in Miami.
Bree Ann Camacho planned the party as part of her bigger goal; to create a philanthropic foundation called Kaely's Kare.
Kaely Camacho was killed on April 14, 2012 when the car she was riding was violently rear-ended by Sandor Guillen. Prosecutors allege Guillen was extremely intoxicated and driving 100 miles an hour behind the wheel of his Range Rover in the busway at SW 184th Street and U.S. 1.
Bree Ann was also in the car, but was uninjured. The girls, along with their father, were on their way to school.
Guillen pleaded not guilty to DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
