Person Struck, Killed On I-95
DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) – A person walking on I-95 was struck and killed early Wednesday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol said they received a call around 4 a.m. that a person had been struck by three vehicles in the northbound lanes of the highway near the Stirling Road. The drivers of all three vehicles stopped and waited for the authorities.
All northbound lanes of I-95 were closed to traffic for more than five hours which created a nightmare for drivers in the normally hectic commute. Drivers were detoured off the highway at Sheridan Street. At one point traffic was backed up into Miami-Dade County.
Just before 9:30 a.m. all lanes were re-opened to traffic but the delays created by the closure persisted.
The FHP said it is unclear why the person who was hit was walking on I-95.
