Pembroke Pines Officer Injured In Morning Crash

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A Pembroke Pines police officer was rushed to the hospital after colliding with another vehicle.

The accident happened on Pines Boulevard at NW 96 Avenue just after 9 a.m.

Pembroke Pines police said Officer Heath Wagner was traveling east along Pines Boulevard as he was responding to a call for service. At the intersection, on a solid green light, he went to make a turn and was hit by the driver of a van who did not yield the right of way.

The impact sent the officer's patrol vehicle into a concrete traffic light pole.

Wagner and the 78-year-old driver of the van were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with injuries.
