Parking Plan Adopted For Residents Near Marlins Park
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Opening day for the Miami Marlins is a little more than two weeks away, but the parking situation for the new Marlins Park remains the biggest question the team and the city faces.
Thursday, the city commission tried to deal with the parking issue, especially for the Little Havana residents who live around the stadium.
The Miami Commission unanimously approved a plan to turn four city-owned vacant lots near Marlins Park into parking places for residents to use on game days.
The plan will provide roughly 90 parking places for residents who will have to have a valid parking decal to park in the lots. The lots will also have staff there to make sure only residents with proper decals are allowed to park in the lots. All other cars will be towed.
The stadium plan is similar to the one used on Miami Beach where residents are given decals to be able to park on the streets in front of their homes in some areas.
