Parents Cash In With Back-To-School Deals
SWEETWATER (CBSMiami) — The shopping frenzy continues for one more day.
Back-to-school shopping, the second-biggest retail season of the year, is tax-free this weekend and shoppers are taking advantage before it ends at midnight.
Tax-free stuff includes clothing, shoes and certain accessories like backpacks. As long as the item is priced below 75 dollars, kiss the sales tax goodbye. For school supplies, it must cost less than 15 dollars.
"It really helps," said the father of seven-year-old Erik Martin.
Being armed with the latest must-have gear has Erik excited, too.
"I really miss school. I really want to go over there now," said young Erik.
Clearly the savings mean an economic shot-in-the-arm for local businesses, as stores are full of families preparing for the new school year.
