Panthers Trade Kris Versteeg To Blackhawks
SUNRISE (CBSMiami) - The Florida Panthers may not be going anywhere fast this season, but at least two players left Sunrise and headed for a new team Thursday night.
The Cats traded forwards Kris Versteeg and Philippe Lefebvre to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Jimmy Hayes and defenseman Dylan Olsen.
Versteeg, 27, was a member of the 2010 Blackhawks Stanley Cup championship team. He had 20 goals and 24 assists in 79 games with Chicago in 2010 and added six goals and eights assists in 22 playoff games en route to the Stanley Cup.
"We are excited to bring Kris back to Chicago and are pleased to add a player with his experience and versatility to our lineup," Blackhawks president and general manager Stan Bowman said in a statement. "This move strengthens our team depth and Kris' skill is a great complement to our current roster."
Hayes, 23, has played in 43 career NHL games, all with Chicago (2011-2014) scoring six goals with seven assists. Olsen, 22, has played in 28 NHL games all with the Blackhawks and has one assist in those games.
Olsen is a former first round draft pick, while Olsen was picked in the second round.
