NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CBSMiami) -- The NHL debuted their new All-Star format Sunday and the cats came out to make south Florida proud.
Instead of a single game consisting of the league's best, moving forward the All-Star game now features a 3-on-3 elimination tournament with four divisional teams.
The Panthers, playing for the Atlantic squad, were out on the ice first against the Metropolitans.
Early on, Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo flashed some glove, robbing several shots and finishing with 8 saves.
Team captain Jaromir Jagr scored on a breakaway on goalie Braden Holtby. That was followed up by the cats defenseman Aaron Ekblad redirecting a goal that tied the game 3-3.
Jagr's goal could have been due to Luongo's special gift given to his teammate on Saturday.
Just picked up a little something for ya @68Jagr for the 3-on-3 tomorrow. Hope you wear it...... #NHLAllStar pic.twitter.com/7gyeQsmfnj
