Panthers Huberdeau Out 3-4 Months, MacKenzie Named Captain

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) — The Florida Panthers have been dealt a huge blow less than a week before the new NHL season officially begins.
The Panthers announced on Sunday that forward Jonathan Huberdeau will miss three-to-four months with a lower body injury.
Hubeadeau was injured during Saturday's preseason finale against the New Jersey Devils at West Point, New York.
During a play behind the Devils net, Huberdeau had the back of his leg stepped on and was cut.
Huberdeau has been a part of the Panthers potent top line, along with Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr, which has been one of the best in the league since it was formed.
NEW CAPTAIN
The Panthers also announced that veteran center Derek MacKenzie would be the team's captain this season.
Jussi Jokinen and Aaron Ekblad will serve as the assistant captains.
MacKenzie is the ninth captain in the Panthers 23 year history.
"It's hard to put into words right now," MacKenzie said. "Honestly, it's a little overwhelming."
