Panthers Face Islanders In First Round Of Stanley Cup Playoffs

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Panthers just completed the most successful regular season in franchise history.
Florida finished the season with franchise records in wins (47) and points (103) while claiming the Atlantic Division title.
Now the Panthers begin preparing for the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where they will face the New York Islanders.
It took until the final day of the season for the playoff matchup to be set, and it pairs two teams with very long streaks that are nothing to write home about.
The Panthers haven't won a playoff series since 1996 when they went on a magical run to the Stanley Cup Finals during the 'year of the rat' while the Islanders haven't won a playoff series since 1993.
One of those ugly streaks will come to an end.
The series will get started on Thursday night at the BB&T Center.
