Palm Beach Zoo Re-Opens After Deadly Tiger Attack

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Closed over the weekend after a tiger killed one of their keepers, the Palm Beach Zoo re-opened to the public on Monday.
Stacey Konwiser was attacked Friday in a contained area where the animals feed and sleep. She was airlifted to the hospital where she died.
While many were concerned what would happen to the rare Malayan tiger, on Sunday zoo spokeswoman Naki Carter put their fears to rest.
"There is no truth to the uncertain fate of the tiger involved in this deadly incident," said Carter. "The tiger is healthy. There has never been blame nor will there ever be blame assigned to the wild Malayan tiger involved in this deadly incident."
Konwiser had "extensive experience" in managing large cats, according to Carter, and had been the zoo's lead keeper for last three years. The zoo plans to set up a tiger conservation fund in her name.
