Palm Beach Sheriff's Chopper Crashes In Delray Beach
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBSMiami) – The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating one of its own after the county's police helicopter made a hard landing near Lyons Road and Atlantic Boulevard in Delray Beach.
A pilot and co-pilot were on board the Bell 407 Helicopter when it crashed around 3 p.m., according to Jim Peters of the Federal Aviation Administration.
So far, PBSO hasn't said what led up to the crash or why the helicopter was in the area when it went down Friday afternoon.
From Chopper 4, part of the rotors were broken off during the crash and the chopper ended up facing a concrete wall. The downed chopper was leaning to the left side as Chopper 4 flew over it.
