Palm Beach Co. Applies For ".Sex" Internet Domain
PALM BEACH GARDENS (CBSMiami/AP) – In the future we could see more adult themed domains on the internet right beside the usual ".com," ".org" and ".edu."
Palm Beach Gardens-based ICM Registry, which brought the .xxx domain to the internet last year, has applied for ".sex," ".porn" and ".adult" domains.
ICM said its ".xxx" domain, which it launched in December 2011, now has 215,000 sites registered in it.
The oversight agency for Internet addresses, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, has been accepting applications for new extensions. The deadline is Thursday.
