OVERTOWN (CBSMiami) -- Plans for an Overtown soccer stadium will be discussed during the project's first public meeting Thursday, as first reported by CBS News partner The Miami Herald.
The 5:30 p.m. town hall will be held at the YWCA at 351 N.W. 5th Street, just a few blocks from the proposed stadium site on N.W. 8th Street and 6th Avenue.
The plan for the new site was announced earlier this month after several failed attempts to procure land deals around the Miami area, including downtown, PortMiami and next to Marlins Park.
After challenges in dealing with both the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County, and an attempt to partner with the school system in a land deal, the latest proposal calls for the Beckham group to own the real estate outright, subject to pay property taxes.
