Overshadowing The Super Bowl
MIAMI - Today, the Super Bowl has been eclipsed by multiple controversies about things that nothing to do with football.
Tom Brady's wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, trashed the Patriots' receivers.
Conservatives are complaining Clint Eastwood's "Halftime in America" ad for Chrysler sounded like a political ad for President Obama.
And then, there was the halftime show. During Madonna's extravaganza, rapper MIA flipped the bird at the hundred million plus who were watching.
NBC was broadcasting on a delay, but the network's censors were late in zapping the picture.
NBC and the NFL apologized, but the network blamed the league for hiring the talent and the league blamed the network's delay system failure.
The real blame lies with a rapper who had no regard for the people she might offend.
She's reportedly on the hook for any fines because, after Janet Jackson's supposed Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction eight years ago, the NFL wised up and made performers sign tough contracts. But the rapper might not care... she's getting lots of publicity and she's married to the son of a billionaire.
